If your child is needing a first or second dose of COVID-19 Vaccination, please attend a Covid  mass community clinic in your local area.

Covid vaccines will not be offered to students in school at this time.

 New School in Carrot River

   DETAILS: 

• Expected opening date is February 2024. 
• The total size of the new school will be approximately 5,330 square meters on the site of the existing Carrot River Junior Senior High School.
• The Ministry of Education of the Province of Saskatchewan will provide funding for approximately 4,300 square meters.
• The North East School Division and the community of Carrot River are extremely thankful to the donor that provided funding to increase the size of the school by 200 square meters to allow for the addition of a welding lab and also increase the size of the performing arts/small gym.
• With the exception of the gym, the Carrot River Junior Senior High School will be demolished. The gym was built in 2005 and will be part of the new school.
• The new school will be a kindergarten to grade 12 school, replacing the Carrot River Elementary School and the Carrot River Junior Senior High School.
• The Carrot River Elementary School and the Carrot River Junior Senior High School will both be operating during construction until the new school has been completed.

When planning the washroom space for the new Carrot River school, the NESD followed best practice in universal washrooms design.  The single-user (full door), multi-stall, and open sink space design ensures students have privacy concerns met while supporting supervision of the open the sink area.  This design has been utilized for both the elementary and high school washrooms. 

At the May 17, 2022 NESD Regular Board meeting the Gronlid Boundary Change report was approved by the NESD Board of Education.

On behalf of the North East School Division, I extend gratitude to NESD board member Kevin Trew for his dedicated representation of Subdivision No. 2:  Arborfield and Carrot River and areas.  

We are grateful for Kevin’s commitment and focused work, bringing community feedback and perspective to the NESD Board of Education. 

We wish Kevin and his family all the best in their new community and look forward to his continued work as the chairperson of the community of Carrot River’s fundraising committee that is raising money for enhancements to the building and the outdoor spaces of the new school in Carrot River.

Thank you to all our NESD and community volunteers who provided extracurricular opportunities for our students this year!  Your contributions have immeasurable positive effects for our students.  In the words of a few of our students, the opportunities you provide have been life changing, significantly helped with their overall wellbeing and health, let them know how much staff cared about them, and has been the reason they felt connected to their school.

Last week the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association recognized two of our NESD coaches.  Mr. Graham Comfort was the recipient of the association’s highest honor, the Award of Merit.  Pictured below, Mr. Comfort, Principal of White Fox School, is joined by our Athletic Commissioner and last year’s Merit Award recipient Cory Schmaltz.  TMSS teacher, Mrs. Sharolyn Simoneau was awarded with the SHSAA Service Award.  

Thank you and congratulations to Mrs. Simoneau and Mr. Comfort for your many years of dedication to coaching our student athletes and supporting a multi-sport athletic program throughout the years.
